Joseph D. Levy
Dr. Joseph D. Levy serves as the Associate Vice Provost of Accreditation and Quality Improvement at Excelsior University. Joe earned a BA in English from Baldwin-Wallace College, an MS in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University, and his Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from National Louis University. Joe is a member of the Student Affairs Assessment Leaders (SAAL) Board of Directors as co-creator and manager for the Applying and Leading Assessment in Student Affairs open course, a member of the National Advisory Board for the Center for Leading Improvements in Higher Education at Indiana University, and an endorsed speaker for the National Institute of Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA). Author, presenter, trainer, and consultant, Joe enjoys leveraging his academic and student affairs experience from multiple institutional types to talk assessment, quality assurance, and institutional betterment.

I’m excited to share the book I worked on for two years with Natasha Jankowski is officially here! The book, Foundations of Assessment: From Theory to Practice, unpacks history and theory behind assessment, going on to share practical, how-to guidance for effective practice and leadership in academic and student affairs assessment.
In addition to being proud of this accomplishment, it encompasses and compiles many of my earlier writings and strategies in one publication that I’m excited to share with everyone. The book was written to help graduate students, faculty, staff, and administrators interested in or doing assessment work – not just assessment professionals (though helpful for them, too!).
