Monica Galloway Burke

Dr. Monica Galloway Burke is a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Counseling and Student Affairs at Western Kentucky University and serves the Faculty Fellow for ONE WKU in the Office of the Provost. With more than 28 years of experience in higher education and a professional background in mental health and student affairs, her teaching, scholarship, and professional service focus on helping relationships, student development, student well-being, leadership, and student success.
Dr. Burke is the co-author of Helping Skills for Working with College Students (2nd ed.) and Mindful Strategies for Helping Students Manage Stress and a co-editor of Culturally Responsive Leadership for Social Justice and Academic Equity for All and Helping College Students in Distress: A Faculty Guide. She is also co-author of the forthcoming book, Responsive Leadership in Education: Sustaining the Educational Village for Student Success.
A frequent national and regional presenter, Dr. Burke is passionate about translating research into practical strategies that equip higher education professionals to better support students while fostering healthy, sustainable helping relationships.
Dr. Burke was also a guest on the Student Affairs One Thing podcast (season 2, episode 24) with host Stuart Brown.
